I recently got the opportunity to spend some time in both the new PUMA Ignite Ultimate and the PUMA Speed 600 Ignite, the latest offerings in the Ignite series. After just one week its without doubt that theses shoes offer you some fantastic comfort, support and incredible style. They have taken the brilliant foundations laid by the first Ignite’s and really raised the bar.
PUMA Ignite Ultimate
This is the newest version of the running shoe to feature the Ignite foam, but it appears to have an added thickness that provides more cushioning, while still remaining highly responsive. The Ignite mid-sole essentially compresses during your landing and then rebounds to increase the energy return. In other words, the more you push, the more you get back. The mesh covering provides comfort and breathability that was lacking in the previous model.
That’s all good and fine, but what was my experience of wearing them? My first response was that they felt somewhat bouncy and very responsive. They look freaking cool and also make pretty decent social shoes! Heck, if Usain Bolt thinks that they are good enough to train in then I cant be wrong in wearing them.
PUMA Speed 600 Ignite
Okay so I purposely left my favourite for last and these are the Ferrari of the Ignite collection. Lets just start with the fact that this shoe is ridiculously comfortable. They are the perfect fit for my feet and suit my running style well. There is a propulsion zone which helps propel you forward. This is a shoe that is designed for speed and its designed with the precision to meet its claims.
The supreme fit is explained through the Everfit+, which locks the foot down for a secure fit that doesn’t inhibit its natural movement. To top the shoe off there is reflective overlays to improve visibility in the low light conditions.
These are two outstanding offerings from PUMA and should be a must on runners wishlists. If I had to choose one it would be the PUMA Speed 600 Ignite’s, with the Ignite Ultimate a narrow second place. PUMA are continuing to live up to their tag line as Forever Faster
