In a move that has delighted Blue Bulls fans, the South African Cricket side has decided to throw their considerable weight (not a stab at Graeme Smith, I promise) behind the Pink Drive campaign. On Sunday 17 March 2013, the Protea’s will forego the green and gold for one day only and pull on a full pink kit for the third One Day International at Wanderers.
This unique Proteas jersey designed by the team’s technical supplier, Adidas, was officially unveiled today.
“We realise the importance of highlighting awareness around breast cancer and for us to play in Pink is our way of contributing to the campaign,” commented the Protea’s skipper de Villiers.
“With us doing our bit for the Pink Drive, I would also like to call on all our cricket fans to show their support for the campaign, by contributing generously via the SMS line and by simply wearing a touch of pink on match day,” added the skipper.
Anyone can contribute to the campaign – to donate R20 to PinkDrive simply sms the word ‘PinkDrive’ to 40158.
These donation commitments and a fully “Pimped in Pink” stadium on the day will go a long way towards raising funds and awareness for a worthwhile cause. Fans attending the match and those watching on TV are encouraged to wear pink to show their support on Sunday. If everyone in the stadium wears pink, there is a chance of setting a world record for the most people wearing a single colour, in one venue, in support of a good cause.
Tickets for the match are available online from www.ticketpros.co.za, Postnet outlets or at the stadium ticket office.
So get in the spirit and get Pink.
