Bryan you Biscuit!

Bryan Habana has had an incredible career in rugby. In his career so far he has scored a lot of tries and by a lot we mean a lot. And although he has scored some incredible tries for the Bulls (Sorry Sharks fans!) and the Stormers, its his incredible feat for the Springboks that we wont to honour. This past Saturday well Samoa were attempting to wrestle, man-handle (quite literally in some cases) and flatten us, the Springboks produced some scintillating rugby to run in 8 tries and thumb the Pacific Islanders. One of the central forces to this victory was the brilliant Bryan Habana.

A few years back it appeared the best of Bryan had passed us by and although he was the record try holder, he didnt quite seem to have the same verve and panache in attack. That of course never stopped him from consistently apply 100% effort on the field. When Meyer took over the Boks, it was a blessing to Habana, as the two who worked so well together at the Bulls, brought that same dynamic to the Bokke. And the past two seasons have reaped the benefits as Habana looks fitter, stronger and more importantly hungrier than he has looked in years. This turn in form has seen Bryan score 10 tries in the past season and a half and take his total to 50, the joint fifth highest in rugby history.

Bryan, thanks for the epic memories, we will be cheering you as you chase down the records of the men ahead of you. Here is to a few more good years in the green and gold!

Below are some stats about Bryan’s 50:
